This Bill aims to establish a legal framework for Carbon Capture, Utilisation
and Storage (CCUS) technology in Malaysia, in line with the nation’s target
to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The Bill provides for the establishment of the Malaysian CCUS Agency
(MyCCUS), which will be responsible for licensing, monitoring and ensuring
compliance of CCUS activities nationwide.

The Bill also supports the implementation of a carbon tax by 2026 and
positions Malaysia as a regional carbon storage hub.
