The Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (Act 736) is legislation that grants Malaysian
citizens the right to organise and participate in peaceful and unarmed
assemblies, in accordance with the principles of democracy and freedom
of expression. This Act sets out the responsibilities of organisers and

facilitate the organisation of peaceful assemblies, including removal
of the requirement to obtain consent of a venue owner as stipulated in
Section 11 of Act 736, as well as notice requirement to inform the police
five days prior to an assembly.
