RODUCTION
Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) was established on 24 May 1964. The
ministry is responsible for providing affordable homes for those qualified, regulate private housing
development and stratified housing management as well as solving housing dispute issues.
It also helps the local authorities in providing municipal services and sosio-economy facilities. Apart from these services, KPKT also provides fast and effective
prevention, fire and rescue services. The ministry is also responsible for the developement and regulation of solid waste management, public cleaning service,
leading and regulating money lendering and pawning.
The ministry’s vision to lead in prosperity of urban communities and a sustainable environment and to realise shared prosperity through liveable housing,
sustainable urban services and efficacious fire services; thus enhancing quality of life is the ministry’s mission.

LAUNCHING OF NATIONAL HOUSING POLICY
2018 – 2025
National Housing Policy (DRN) 2018-2025) has been approved by the
Cabinet on 9 November 2018, focusing on 5 aspects, 16 strategies and 57
action plans. Among the action plans (2018-2025) is implementing housing
rasionalism through 3 main agencies under KPKT which are Perbadanan
PRIMA Malaysia and Perumahan Penjawat Awam Malaysia (PPAM)
program from Prime Minister Office, Syarikat Perumahan Nasional Berhad
(SPNB) from Ministry of Finance.
