NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS AND EVENTS Opening Ceremony of the First Term of the First 14th
Parliament Meeting
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V graced the the opening ceremony
of the first term of the first 14th parliament meeting at Dewan Rakyat on
17 July 2018. The 20-day meeting took place from 16 July to 16 August 2018.
The first meeting on 16 July was for the appointment of the Yang di-Pertua
Dewan Rakyat followed by the swearing-in ceremony of the members of Dewan
Rakyat and the appointment of the Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat.

Meeting of the Conference of Rulers
The 249th Conference of Rulers Meeting was held from 9 to 10 May 2018 at
Istana Negara and was chaired by DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin
Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah.
All rulers and governors of the states are by default members of the Conference
of Rulers. Their attendance at meetings is imperative and should a member of
the Conference be unable to attend a meeting, his or her state must designate a
temporary replacement; as set out by each state’s own constitution.
Only the rulers of the Malay states of Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Perlis,
Terengganu, Kedah, Kelantan, Pahang, Johor, and Perak are permitted to
participate in the election of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and stand as candidates.
The governors of the other states (Penang, Malacca, Sabah and Sarawak) do
