The Minister of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), has officiated in Malaysia; Local Leadership in the Commonwealth in Championing
Local Authorities Empowerment Convention in Setia Convention Centre, Sustainable Agenda; Rethinking the Role of Mayors and Councilors as
Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang on 14th October 2019. This was the second time Urban Managers; Gender Perspective; and Localizing SDG and NUA and
that KPKT organized the convention and it gathered 3,000 participants the Role of Mayors and Councillors. The convention was expected to give
including Mayor, President, Secretaries and Council Members from all over added values and impacts to the local authorities towards increasing their
Malaysia. The convention acts as a platform to inform Local Authorities delivery system in future.
The theme for the convention was “PBT Perkasa, Rakyat Sejahtera’ which focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) dan New Urban Agenda (NUA) principles. 13 local and
foreign leaders discussed on the urbanization issues through presentation, townhall, panel discussion and conclusion session.
