Prime Minister’s Working Visit to Japan
Malaysia-Japan Bilateral Meeting in Tokyo, Japan
The Prime Minister's first visit to Tokyo from 10 to 12 June 2018 was to attend the
24th Nikkei International Conference on Asia's Future where he delivered a
speech. The Prime Minister also held bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister
Shinzo Abe, attended dialogue sessions with Japanese businessmen, including
representatives from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(JACTIM), Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and Japan-Malaysia
Economic Association (JAMECA), met with Japanese media as well as attended
a meet and greet session with Malaysians in Tokyo.
From 6 to 9 August 2018, the Prime Minister visited the cities of Fukuoka and Oita,
and delivered a speech at Japan's Future Leaders School (JFLS). He also visited
Kyushu Asia Institute of Leadership (KAIL) Kyushu Railway Company’s Safety
Creation Centre and Groovenauts Inc. The Prime Minister received a courtesy
visit from Mr Hiroto Izumi, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan and
discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, the
Prime Minister was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Ritsumeikan Asia
Pacific University in Oita.
