AND CULTURE MALAYSIA
Malaysia Christmas Open House 2018
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MoTAC) organised the
Malaysia Christmas Open House (MRTM) 2018 from 27 to 29 December 2018
at Padang Merdeka, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The open house aimed to foster unity and understanding of the multi-racial
community and fuel the spirit of New Malaysia. It also promoted friendly
relations between leaders and the people and furthered the tradition of
celebrating Christmas in Malaysia as one of the country's tourism efforts.
The Malaysia Christmas Open House 2018 was officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri
Dr. Wan Azizah binti Dr. Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister. The event was
also attended by YB Datuk Mohamaddin bin Ketapi, Minister of Tourism, Arts
and Culture and YB Datuk Christina Liew, Deputy Chief Minister of Tourism,
Culture and Environment and representatives of the Sabah Christian
community.
Activities held included exhibitions from state exhibitors in an effort to reach
out to the community with the services provided as well as food truck fiesta
that offered a variety of food besides the meals provided free of charge during
the open house.
The Malaysia Open House (MRTM) is an annual national event organised by
the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia. Other festivals celebrated
include Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Pesta
Kaamatan.
