me Fellowship Programme 2018: Bridging Youths And The Federal 7 | SUMMARY OF MINISTRIES
Government
The involvement of youths at various levels of administration is seen as a vital
need in this country to produce a generation that will inherit the nation's future.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports is aware and serious in the steps to be taken to
achieve this objective. A programme called Prime Fellowship was thus
re-introduced in 2018 to provide the space and opportunity for youths to unleash
their talents and gain as much experience and knowledge as possible in policy
formulation, planning, implementation and management of national development
agenda.
Leadership qualities among youths cannot be ignored given that Generation Y is
now more exposed to extensive global information and development. Such a
programme will enable their knowledge and leadership skills to be applied upon
the guidance of role models and more experienced people.
Besides the exposure and training that will enhance the leadership potential of
programme participants, they are given the opportunity to work with cabinet
ministers whereby their views are taken into consideration and serve to connect
the youths and the federal administration.
Sixty participants were selected from various races, genders and backgrounds,
thus creating diversity in the sharing of ideas. The presentation of Prime
Fellowship 2018 to the cabinet ministers was officiated by the Prime Minister YAB
Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad on 17 August 2018.
