Proclamation Of Jerai Geopark As National Geopark In Conjunction With
The Coronation Of His Majesty The 29th Sultan Of Kedah
DYMM Sultan Sallehudin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Sultan of
Kedah officiated the proclamation of Jerai Geopark as National Geopark on
24 November 2018. The Ministry of Water, Soil and Natural Resources
(KATS) which chairs the National Geopark Committee wholly supported the
efforts of establishing a geopark in Malaysia as an important aspect of
sustainable development. This is in line with the ministry's vision of
"Sustainable Leading Water, Land and Natural Resources for National
Well-being".
DYMM Sultan Sallehudin ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Sultan of Kedah proclaims Geopark as
the National Geopark of Malaysia.
Celebration Of International Day Of Forests And Conservation Of Swamp
Forest 2018
Selangor was chosen as the host for both celebrations, themed "Forests for
Community Livelihood." YB Dr. Xavier Jayakumar a/l Arulanandam, Minister of
Water, Land and Natural Resources officiated the International Day of Forests
Day and Conservation of Swamp Forests 2018 at Kuala Bernam Forest Reserve,
Sabak Bernam, Selangor on 7 October 2018.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Water, Land and Natural Resources YB
Tengku Zulpuri Shah bin Raja Puji, YBhg. Dato' Dr. Tan Yew Chong, Secretary
General of the Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources; Amb. Maria
Castillo Fernandez, Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation to
Malaysia; YB Hee Loy Sian, Chairman of the Standing Committee on
Environment, Green Technology, Science, Technology & Innovation and
Consumer Affairs representing the Selangor Menteri Besar; YB Dato' Mohd Amin
bin Ahmad Ahya, Secretary of State and YBhg. Dato' Nor Akhirrudin bin Mahmud,
Director General of Forestry of Peninsular Malaysia.
