SUMMARY OF MINISTRIES ACTIVITIES IN MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT

AES / Awas
The Ministry of Transport and the Malaysian Road Transport Department (RTD)
are serious about tightening road regulations with the announcement made in
August 2018 by YB Tuan Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport on the
issues of AES or AWAS camera surveillance. The following month, on 1
September, RTD took over the entire operation, development, maintenance and
the enforcement of the system. Accordingly, the use of KEJARA demerit point
system was being implemented together with the operationalisation of the AES /
AWAS system.
On 3 September 2018, the Minister of Transport took the opportunity to witness
and be briefed on the operation of the system at the AES control centre located at
Ara Damansara, Selangor. During the visit, the Minister walked through each
phase of the AES enforcement control system.
The Minister reminded road users to comply with all traffic rules and informed that
the Government is serious about their enforcement without any compromise so as
to ensure the safety of all drivers and road users.
