SUMMARY OF MINISTRIES Launch Of Terengganu Water Activity Safety Awareness Campaign 2018
KPKT through the Water Activity Safety Council (MKAA) organised the
Terengganu Water Activity Safety Awareness Campaign at Pulau Warisan, Kuala
Terengganu on 29 September 2018. YB Senator Dato' Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah
ibni Raja Ahmad Baharuddin Shah, Deputy Minister of Housing and Local
Government officiated the launch of the campaign.
The objective of the campaign is to address the increasing incidence of drowning
each year and to raise people’s awareness on safety in water activities. Campaign
participants include children, adolescents, and youths who were provided with the
knowledge to priorities self-safety before helping others in the event of an
emergency in the water or reservoir. They also had the opportunity to learn and
obtain safety tips from firefighters. As a proactive measure, KPKT also put in
place measures by studying the relevant laws and drafting by-laws for the
purpose of enforcing safety in water and recreation areas and providing safety
related guidelines for the use of Local Authorities - Guidelines for the
Management and Maintenance of Swimming Pools in PBT areas.
