SUMMARY OF MINISTRIES Rambutan mutiara merah or clone AG 28 and rambutan mutiara wangi or clone
GB 44 are now the country's latest pride in the field of research and development
(R&D) in agriculture.
MARDI has conducted the research on the production of this new variant of
rambutansince 1981. The introduction of these clones is evidence of MARDI's
commitment to delivering the best results in the development of the country's
agriculture and agro-based industry.
The Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, YB Dato' Salahuddin bin
Ayub introduced the two new clones during the launch of the Tropical Fruit
Research and Innovation Excellence Centre and the announcement of MARDI's
new rambutan clone in Sintok, Kedah on 29 July 2018.

opening ceremony of the 25th ASEAN Centre for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives
(ACEDAC) meeting in Langkawi
The 25th ASEAN Centre for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives
(ACEDAC) meeting was held in Langkawi on 23 July 2018. Representatives from
agricultural nations from Southeast Asia such as Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia
and several other countries attended the meeting.
YB Tuan Sim Tze Tzin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry
hoped that the meeting would provide a new perspective for the ministry and the
people of Asia to improve agricultural productivity as well as the agricultural sector
in general.
