Launch of Desa Harapan
YB Datuk Seri Rina binti Mohd Harun, Minister of Rural Development officially
launched Desa Harapan programme on 18 December 2018 in Kinjang Village,
Chenderiang, Tapah, Perak. Also present was the Chief Minister of Perak, Dato'
Seri Ahmad Faizal bin Dato' Azumu.
Desa Harapan is an initiative by the Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) to
develop the village as a centre for economic, ecotourism and human capital. The
programme is a strategic collaboration between the ministry, private partners and
villagers to assist in the development of the village mainly in its economic
advancement and to generate income for the villagers. The objective of the launch
is to provide a new definition of the concept of adopted village for it to be more
holistic, effective, attractive and innovative.
Kampung Kinjang is the appropriate location for the launch ceremony, being the
pioneer of the Desa Harapan programme while at the same enriched with natural
beautiful landscape including Lata Kinjang Waterfall, the highest waterfall in
Southeast Asia.
