SUMMARY OF MINISTRIES ACTIVITIES IN MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND
SPORTS
Street Dakwah: An Initiative To Trail Youths At Risk
Realising that not all members of the community are fortunate enough to enjoy a
comfortable and happy life, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) is focused on
youths who are without parental or caretaker supervision. They are the ones who
can adversely affect the country’s future.
With the cooperation and support from the Deputy Prime Minister's Office,
Malaysian Youth Council, National Association of Islamic Students of Malaysia
and various other agencies, KBS successfully reached out to several youth
groups during the new year celebration within Kuala Lumpur and Dataran
Merdeka. The programme was intended to ascertain the possible roots and
causes of the problems that present risk exposure to these people.
The majority of the youths are between the ages of 12 and 25 and through this
method, it is easier for them to share their life experiences. Activities such as
biking, racing, sales of food and drinks benefitted most of them. On the contrary,
the freedom they enjoy at such age, while the liberty of hanging out at night
without supervision bring about more negative consequences.
The programme, which was carried out on 31 December 2018, has created
awareness of the Government and many other parties in identifying key issues so
as to come up with an action plan that will help this group obtain the necessary
help and support.
Street Dakwah also saw the participation of the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB
Tuan Syed Saddiq bin Syed Abdul Rahman and representatives from the
Malaysian Youth Council and related agencies.
